In 2006, Bob and Mariah decided to live in Bali after their retirement from the University of Indonesia. Mariah has always been fascinated by the culture and art of Bali, and Bob is the one who took it seriously and started looking for land to build. It was just by coincidence or just sheer luck that we found this land in Payangan. While buying some gasoline along the road to Kintamani, Bob and friend started asking people if there was land for sale in the area. Bob was delighted to know there was land available. So Bob and Mariah ended up purchasing a piece of property in the hamlet Penyabangan, 800 meters above sea level, on top of a valley, and in a very rural part of Bali. They both fell in love with the view and lush and green facing a forest where the weather is pleasant year-round.
